​Metabuild to Implement Digital Technology on Miryang-Ulsan Expressway in Korea

Metabuild has established a digital traffic platform that detects unexpected situations and traffic conditions in real time in both directions of the 8km long tunnel (Jaeyaksan) on the Miryang-Ulsan Expressway.

Metabuild has installed Radar Traffic Incident Detection System (IDS), Vehicle Detection System (VDS), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Video Vehicle Classifier (VAI) in all sections. It has implemented the linkage middleware (ESB, IoT, API) and AI platform-based "C-ITS Integrated Traffic Platform" until December last year and has been in full operation since last month.

The radar traffic incident detection system(IDS) developed by Metabuild detects unexpected situations regarding accidents, stopped vehicles, roadside vehicles, and people. The radar vehicle detection system (VDS) detects traffic conditions such as vehicle type, traffic volume, and vehicle speed for each lane. The AI video vehicle classifier learns general CCTV images through deep learning in the AI platform and distinguishes vehicles and people.

A Metabuild official said, "Radar's unexpected situation sensor has better performance than conventional imaging or foreign products," and explained, "It is also in the spotlight overseas because it has many advantages such as high economic feasibility and convenience of maintenance by detecting 1Km section with one radar."

Radar traffic IDS and VDS are being supplied and operated to 130 sections of domestic and foreign highways, national highways, city roads, bridges, and tunnels. In addition to basic performance and operational performance certification, it has obtained design, procurement, and construction (EPC), new design technology (NET), European Union integrated standard (CE), and national integrated certification mark (KC). At the end of last year, it won multiple awards including the award from the Korea Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, the Korea Ministry of Interior and Saftey for its world patent registration and excellent product technology.

The integrated C-ITS traffic platform is equipped with middleware software and Cooperative Autonomous Driving Platform (CAMS). Various legacy solutions such as intrusion detection system (IDS), visual display system (VDS), CCTV, and video management system (VMS) are integrated into one screen with digital twin and dashboard to provide convenient comprehensive management.​
